  • 08:37 "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" is, in some ways, like an 1850s version of "Degrassi Junior High." Discuss.
  • 09:28 "Rock" and "Rock & Roll" are two different genres. WTF?
  • 13:19 Organizing some of my unsorted music folders. Is Modest Mouse "Indie Rock" or "Alternative Rock?" I'M SO CONFUSED!
  • 13:29 Alright, so no way is "Britpop" a real genre. Should I start calling Michael Jackson "Ameripop"?
  • 13:33 (Alright, Wikipedia makes a fairly good arguement for britpop. YOU WIN THIS ROUND, BLUR.)
  • 14:22 Wait, so the First Doctor Who lived for, like, 600 years, then over the course of the 20th century, he went through NINE MORE BODIES?
  • 14:23 That's just shit luck, really.
  • 14:40 So yeah, clearly I'm watching Doctor Who on Netflix. Anything in black and white... kinda sucks. But Tom Baker is the man.
  • 14:42 Also - most badass theme music ever.
  • 15:06 Dr. Who time travel makes NO SENSE. Something can happen in 1911 to destroy 1980, even though 1980 clearly wasn't destroyed BEFORE? Bwuh?
  • 15:14 Okay, the Doctor is a time traveling Jessica Fletcher - he always "accidently" shows up in times RIGHT when something horrible is happening.
  • 15:46 So, though it seems like I'm doing nothing today, I've inked and colored Friday's DS. Twitter and Netflix keep me oddly focused on work.
  • 18:56 Holy crap, I finished Friday's page fully a day early. That's... unique.
  • 18:56 You know what? Fuck it! Here's a sneak peek for my tweeps - bit.ly/2kbqdS
  • 18:56 That's just how I roll.
  • 19:47 Back to my music organization. Gotta say, TMBG doesn't really sound like Alternative Rock. I think it's going under Geek Rock.
  • 20:03 And my bootlegs of the Beach Boy's "Smile" get to be the only music in my collection under the genre of "Psychedelic Pop."

  • 19:13 Watching an A&E biography about Charles Dickens. Dude, TEN CHILDREN? WTF, Chuck?
  • 19:13 (Insert Mrs. Dickens "Please sir, may I have another?" joke here.)
  • 19:17 (And yes, Charles Dickens was a douchebag.)
  • 21:29 Wow, it took me way too long to discover Google Books. It's like Gutenberg on CRACK.
  • 22:03 Comic's up. Increasingly weird shit occurs within it.

  • 09:01 So, it was never announced anywhere, but seriously, Lego RB has LEGO SPINAL TAP. I'm not kidding.
  • 09:02 To clairfy, I'm not talking about a song - the actual BAND is in the game. In Lego form. Now that's just epic.
  • 10:13 Just replaced all the fire alarm batteries in this house. MY EARS FEEL FANTASTIC.
  • 11:22 I just got a wrong number call from animal control looking for "Scott." Sounds like poor Scott's about to lose his dog!
  • 18:19 Watching Ken Burns' "Mark Twain" on Netflix. It's narrated by Goliath!
  • 20:32 Penciled two exceedingly wacky pages today. That does it for DS #03.

Do you ever have times where you get really angry not being able to do something, so you keep trying harder and harder, and you get even angrier, and then whatever you do from that point on keeps fueling the anger?

Yeah i'm having one of those moments

  • 15:34 My friend's NetFlix account is increasing my quality of life while I work.

  • 19:53 Comic already uploaded. I was diligent in working today. Huzzah.

  • 11:32 ZOMG. Lego RB has the pig that Peter Frampton got at Pink Floyd's garage sale. Seriously.
  • 12:16 I don't understand jazzercize. They always seem to work out to pop music. Shouldn't they be jogging to Miles Davis?
  • 21:47 What the hell? Why isn't my comic updating? Did daylight savings occur when I wasn't looking?

  • 11:59 The lead singer I built in Lego Rock Band looks exactly like Wolverine.
  • 12:06 LIFE IS A HIGHWAY, AND WOLVERINE WANTS TO DRIVE IT ALL NIGHT LONG.
  • 18:16 Today's DS is in color now. I seem to have gotten my art stuff rolling in Windows 7 now.
  • 19:13 Wolverine is walkin' on sunshine, AND DON'T HE FEEL GOOD?
  • 20:03 Aliens abducted my bassist, who promptly discovered Freddie Mercury also lurking on the UFO. (beat) Yeah, Lego RB is awesomely batshit.
  • 20:04 Also, Lego Dracula is my band's manager.

  • 08:28 Gonna trade in a bunch of PS3 games today for Lego Rock Band. The setlist in that game is so hilariously batshit that I have to get it.
  • 09:20 I think it bears mentioning that OpenOffice fucking rules. Actually buying and installing Microsoft Office is a fool's errand.
  • 12:37 Ended up with $97 in Gamestop credit. Picked up Lego Rock Band for the 360 and 3200 XBox Live points so I can catch up on my DLC.
  • 15:43 Okay, like most Lego games, Lego Rock Band is actually REALLY funny. Go figure.
  • 17:20 I appear to have misplaced Adobe Photoshop. They comic, uh... it might be late.
  • 20:41 And... the x64 version of Photoshop doesn't think Twain scanners exist. YAY.
  • 21:20 Finally at least got WIA to work. WIA BLOWS but at least it works.
  • 22:10 Pencils are up for DS. I still need to resurrect Illustrator before I can ink anything.

-Starting to get used to the new job and odd hours.

-Attempting NaNoWriMo this year. I’m currently ahead of my word count goal, and will remain so for another five minutes.

-Audrey is standing on her own and walking with the aid of a push toy. She’s been having a bad couple days, which hopefully can be chalked up to teething.

-I’ve been up for most of the last 31 hours and my writing energy is being used up elsewhere, so that’s all the news that’s fit to print at the moment.

Nov. 3rd, 2009 @ 10:10 am Home repairs.
It's ridiculous how costs can snowball when you're trying to fix up a house a little bit before moving in. We had planned on X, and we're getting disturbing close to 2X as the price. None of the things that were done are BAD, per se, and none of them seemed outrageously expensive, but when you add them all together, it gets super pricey super quickly.

On the bright side, we're getting much closer to being done.

  • 10:12 Finally got the $30 for Windows 7. Downloading now - only 5 hours to go! Woo?
  • 11:27 Pondering changing the comic name from Delusionary State to Delusional State, which sounds silly but the latter rolls off the tongue easier.
  • 11:55 It's possible I used too much sriracha in this salsa queso dip. Whew.
  • 12:56 I wanna film a webseries staring my Sporkman puppet.
  • 19:03 Installed Windows 7. It's my first legit OS since ME. I feel so... legal!
  • 23:10 Huh. Windows 7 is really pretty and it actually WORKS! Color me shocked.

  • 11:02 Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu is really fucking hard.
  • 14:56 Let me tell ya somethin' - LEGO BUSTIN' MAKES ME FEEL GOOD. bit.ly/2PP0pT
  • 15:42 Just completely plotted the next issue of DS. It's most just getting things that have been in my brain for a while on paper.
  • 15:43 (Yes, I'm clearly doing jackshit on Halloween.)
  • 15:50 Okay, actually, the last six pages of issue #4 as plotted may take MORE than six pages. Whoops.
  • 16:12 Hmm, now I'm not sure who the lame-ass flashbacks will focus on in the fifth DS. Writing is HARD.
  • 16:16 I'm concerned that if I focus on the character I WANT to focus on, I'll be leaving a seperate plot thread hanging for two months.
  • 16:16 Oh well, I'll just go with it. If readers haven't rebeled by now anyway, I'm sure they'll be fine.
  • 17:47 Sometimes I forget what I actually wrote in a comic and what I'd PLANNED to write in a comic but didn't. I should really work that out.
  • 19:01 And DS #05 is outlined as well. As opposed to #04, this one may have too LITTLE plot, so I may need to fix that. Starting #06 now.

  • 07:48 Finally forced myself to finish that Lovecraft collection. It was interesting, if not ridiculously boring. I don't know what to read next.
  • 11:48 Just an FYI: @joeymanley is the devil. I'm having violent retail muzak flashbacks right now.
  • 12:15 Tomorrow's DS is already uploaded. Had to cheat with some copy/pasting to get it done early, but I'll be gone most of today, so... yeah.
